| Jenny's Favorite Paste Paper Recipe: Stir 1/3 cup cake flour into 2 cups cold water in a pot. Let sit five minutes. Bring to gentle boil, STIRRING. Then simmer about five minutes or until thickening. Keep watching and stirring while simmering. Pour into container and let cool. Add water-based paint -- either tempera or acrylic. For example, fill a small yogurt container about 3/4 full of paste and add a good t-spoonfull of paint and MIX WELL. Use a small sponge to spread on paper. Use combs, bits of cardboard, plastic knives, forks, etc, and fingers to make designs. Glue spreaders from hardware stores are great tools for making patterns in the paint. Plaid makes a tool that is fabulous... It's a squarish rubber tool designed to make patterns in paint and can be found at Michaels and other craft/stamp supply stores. Let papers dry flat on newsprint over night. Store left-over paste in fridge. |
